"Travel through America’s Southwest is richest when places are understood in relationship to one another—land shaping people, people shaping communities, and water shaping everything.

As a Certified Interpretive Guide, I design journeys that reveal these connections. A canyon becomes more than scenery—it becomes a record of water and deep time. A road is not just a route, but a response to landscape, economy, and human need. Communities reflect both the resources that sustained them and the values they chose to carry forward.

I guide through four interconnected lenses—Historical, Cultural, Heritage, and Natural Resources—because no single story stands alone. Together, they offer a fuller understanding of place and meaning.

Equally important is how these journeys are delivered. Thoughtful pacing, attentiveness, and consistent care throughout the experience create the space where curiosity, wonder, and reflection can emerge. Hospitality, for me, is not luxury or performance—it is quiet excellence in service, woven into every day of the journey."

My Story

My passion for sharing America's Southwest with active adult travelers is traced to my active personal and professional life in the the outdoors.

My connection with nature began at the age of eight, when I joined Cub Scouts. Nature was my world. Scouting led to outdoors experiences at the Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp, as a camper, and as a counselor.

Following graduation from the Nichols College School of Forestry, I accepted employment with the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Game. When the State of Massachusetts established the Division of Marine Fisheries, I was one of nine biologists recruited to conduct estuarine studies along the coast of Massachusetts. I completed my employment as the agencies Assistant Director for Administration.

Relocating to Las Vegas in 1989, I assisted a tour operator with day trips to surrounding areas in Southern Nevada. I teamed with Las Vegas native Char Cruze (my mentor) sharing National and State Parks with tourists.

Seeing the potential career sharing America's Southwest with travelers, I consulted with International and National colleagues and organized the Las Vegas Tourist Guides Guild in 1995 for tour and travel professionals in Southern Nevada.

I specialize in guided tour experiences within the Southwest United States, including the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

I look forward to the opportunity to service you, your family, friends, and colleagues. eMail ArtChesmore@Gmail.com and I'll begin drafting a customized itinerary that meets your desires, wishes, expectations, and your available time.
